My wife Virginie and I have been running le Domaine de la Varenne for over 30 years.
We are well-traveled and both speak French, English, German and Spanish.
We are renowned for our hospitality.We just love meeting new people.
Our 18th-Century-old-farm is absolutely gorgeous in the middle of a ten-acre park, with its unique feature : a covered heated swimming pool all year round.
Situated in the Loire Valley you will find an outstanding choice of historical places, Chateaux, wine-tasting, lakes, golf courses, horse-riding, fishing, bird-watching,walking in the forest.
This is one of the best-value-for-money cottage in the area: A holiday you'll never forget.
We bought la Varenne in 1977 because we wanted to raise our five children in the countryside.
We have been running an international school in Loches for 37 years and we were able to get away from it all.
For us la Varenne is peace and quiet, fresh air and open space.
We all love riding. Our horses are friendly to the visitors who can enjoy seeing them gallop in the field next to the property.
We also love swimming so you are assured of the luxury of the pool at any time of the year making Spring or Autumn breaks equally pleasant.
The property is open and spacious. You will enjoy both privacy and comfort.
In Loches,follow the road to Ligueil. After (not "at") the second roundabout, turn right (signposted Mouzay and les Fourneaux) at a big wooden cross. After 500m, La Varenne is on your right.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Outdoor games are available from May onwards weather permitting. We have games like boules, volley-ball and table tennis (please bring your own bats and balls) as well as the pool and there are tennis courts and riding stables 2 kms from here.
There is a good golf course about 20 kms away and 13 kms from here is a huge forest with lots of wildlife.
Loches (12 kms) has markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, full of farm fresh fruit and vegetables, local hams and cheeses, bread, fish, meat and flowers, sometimes wild mushrooms, sometimes home-made preserves. There are also numerous local restaurants to choose from.
TOURS, offers you everything you can dream of: concerts,theatres, museums, Basilica with Saint Martin’s tomb.Tours really deserves the nickname of "little Paris"
